Terms of Use

Last updated: July 7, 2026

Welcome to the Open Practice Project Spaces (the "Platform"), a companion workspace to The Open Practice Academy's Open Education in Practice curriculum. By creating an account or using the Platform you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please don't use the Platform.

1. Beta software

The Platform is in beta. It is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. Features may change, break, or be removed. Data loss, downtime, and bugs are possible. Please keep your own copies of anything critical.

2. Your account

You need a free account to create or edit a project. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. If you use a shared or public computer, sign out when you're done.

You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction (generally 13+, or 16+ in parts of the EU).

3. Your content

"Your content" is anything you enter into the Platform — project notes, resource entries, tags, licensing decisions, share settings, feedback, and so on. You keep ownership of your content.

You grant us a limited license to store, display, and process your content solely to operate the Platform (for example, saving your project, showing it to collaborators you invite, or rendering a read-only public link if you generate one).

You are responsible for the content you enter. Don't upload content that is unlawful, infringing, harmful, harassing, or that you don't have the right to share.

4. Sharing and public links

You control who sees your projects. Collaborators you invite by email get editing access. Public read-only links only exist when you generate them, and they can be revoked at any time. The Project Garden shows projects only after you opt in per project.

Anything you make public — a share link, a Garden listing, a published Open Practice sentence — may be viewed, cached, or indexed by others. Don't put private information into public fields.

5. Open education content and licenses

The Platform helps you track third-party resources and their licenses. It is a planning tool, not legal advice. You are responsible for confirming the license of any resource you use, attributing creators correctly, and complying with applicable copyright, licensing, and institutional policies.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Break, probe, or overload the Platform;
  • Attempt to access accounts, projects, or data that aren't yours;
  • Scrape or bulk-download other users' content;
  • Use the Platform to send spam, malware, or unlawful content;
  • Impersonate anyone or misrepresent your affiliation with an institution.

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms or that put other users at risk.

7. Feedback

When you send us feedback through the in-app form, you allow us to use it to improve the Platform without obligation to you.

8. Third-party services

The Platform is built with Lovable and uses its managed cloud infrastructure for hosting, database, authentication, and email. Sign-in with Google is offered as an optional convenience and is governed by Google's own terms. We aren't responsible for third-party services, but we choose them carefully.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time by contacting us at info@theopenpracticeacademy.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, or if we need to stop operating the Platform.

10. Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Platform is provided without warranties, and The Open Practice Academy is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, for a free beta, is zero).

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Platform evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
