About this platform

A standalone project workspace, developed as a companion for The Open Practice Academy's remix of Megan Brittany-Fruia Zara's Open Education in Practice original curriculum. The remix is currently being built to integrate with these project spaces, phase by phase, creating a supportive shell for anyone doing an OER or open education project.

Why it exists

Open education work is rewarding, layered, and easy to lose track of. You're gathering resources, weighing licenses, thinking about learners and stakeholders, and trying to design something that can survive real life. This space keeps that thinking in one calm, watercolor place so you can pick it up wherever you left off — whether you're working in Wix, Canvas, Pressbooks, or another platform.

It follows the six-phase arc of the Open Education in Practice curriculum as remixed through TOPA's lens: moving from context and discovery through licensing, design, open pedagogy, systems, and sustainability. As you move through the phases, your project builds a single Open Practice sentence — a short public statement of what you're making and why — and a shareable implementation portfolio that becomes a fantastic starting point for an OER or open education grant application.

What's inside

  • Overview — set the context, learners, goals, and name the messy middle of the work.
  • Resource Tracker — capture every resource you consider, its license, accessibility notes, and whether it earns a place in your project.
  • Evaluation Brief, Licensing & Ethics, Design & Workflows — structured notes for the decisions that usually disappear into email threads or meeting memories.
  • Open Pedagogy, Systems & Stakeholders, Sustainability — plan renewable assignments, map who needs to know what, and decide how the work stays alive over time.
  • Final Landscape Summary — a printable, shareable one-pager you can use with collaborators, deans, grant programs, or communities.

Lovable handles the workspace logic — tabs, forms, trackers, and summaries — so you can focus on the thinking. You can use this space on its own or embed it inside other tools to keep the project close to where learning happens.

The curriculum this is built on

The tabs, phases, and prompts follow Megan Brittany-Fruia Zara's Open Education in Practice core curriculum, remixed through The Open Practice Academy lens. The remix is in development and will integrate directly with this workspace; for the original curriculum and broader context, start here:

This is a work in progress

The Open Practice Project Space is being built with Lovable, an AI app builder. It's in beta — expect rough edges, missing polish, and the occasional bug. Nothing here is final.

Your feedback is what makes it better. If something is confusing, broken, or missing, please tell us — every note shapes what gets fixed next.
